MemberWise Jobs is pleased to support TOPRA in finding an enthusiastic and robust membership professional to fill their Membership Development Manager post. The Membership Development Manager for TOPRA is a crucial role which is essential to the future success of the organisation.  Following a strategic review, TOPRA is becoming much more ‘member-centred’ with strong growth plans scheduled for the next two to five years. TOPRA strives to encourage the many thousands of those with whom it connects to become full members.

Reporting directly to the CE, this role will work closely with other Heads of function to provide an integrated approach to delivering the Board’s strategy.

The Organisation:

TOPRA is the professional membership organisation for individuals engaged in regulatory affairs for human or veterinary medicines and medical devices across Europe. We are looking for a dynamic Membership Officer to support our membership growth plans and join our friendly group of staff based near Canary Wharf.

Role Purpose

To deliver TOPRA’s strategic aims for membership growth and engagement and to provide leadership to the membership team, proactively managing the membership communications and processes so that regulatory professionals view TOPRA membership as an essential component of their career and professional development. TOPRA is the professional membership organisation for individuals engaged in regulatory affairs for human and veterinary medicines and medical devices worldwide.

Key Accountabilities

Membership strategies

  • To work with the CE to develop high level membership strategies and goals.
  • To develop and implement detailed strategies for the growth of membership by country, by sector, by age and other key indicators.
  • To create strategies for the retention of and engagement with the membership community.
  • To develop and communicate the member value proposition for the range of regulatory professionals who represent the TOPRA membership.
  • To evaluate and introduce new member products and services in line with the value proposition, the overall strategy, budgets and communications strategy.
  • To plan and execute membership communications to ensure maximum member engagement is maintained at all times, in line with the overall company communications strategy.
  • To work with the CE and volunteer committees to deliver a diversity policy, a competency framework and other standards for the regulatory profession.

Process Management

  • To deliver and implement an annual renewal timetable for membership subscription payments plus midyear success reports which will be presented to The Board.
  • To develop strategies for and proactively manage the process for conversion to membership for non-member course/conference attendees.
  • Oversee the membership, joining and renewal sections of the website ensuring information, technology and capabilities are up to date.
  • To develop and implement a regular programme of research into member needs and expectations and member feedback so that TOPRA offerings and processes meet customer expectations.
  • To have responsibility for the member data base in terms of data quality and to be part of the team which administers developments in database functionality.
  • To ensure clear processes and guidance are in place for the local geographic networks and special interest groups.

Governance

  • Oversee exploration of alternative routes to and categories of membership and evaluate the implications of changes on the governance of TOPRA.
  • To contribute to the development and delivery of TOPRA’s business objectives, including taking part in Board meetings and strategy delivery as appropriate.

Communications

  • Oversee the membership communications and application processes ensuring members are communicated with on a regular basis.
  • Work with the Professional Development team to ensure the members are aware of the TOPRA courses and conferences on offer.
  • Evaluate the most appropriate means of communication making use of new technology as appropriate.

Representation

  • To represent the membership function at appropriate TOPRA conferences including the Annual Symposium.
  • To be the TOPRA membership representative at outside bodies including PARN, Science Council etc and to seek out additional forms of representation.
  • Represent TOPRA at local events and conferences as required to promote the benefits of membership.
  • Attend TOPRA committee meetings and functions as and when appropriate

Team Management

  • To manage, develop and motivate the membership team to deliver key objectives and maintain high standards of customer service to members and potential members.
  • To oversee the administration of the TOPRA local geographic networks and the TOPRA Special Interest groups.

 

Person Specification

  • A pro-active strategic thinker who can plan and implement activities and measure outcomes clearly demonstrating passion for the growth of TOPRA.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Computer literate with good MS Office Skills.  An understanding of member CRM systems and knowledge of new emerging communication technologies.
  • Very strong written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to represent the organisation.
  • Demonstrable budget and people management experience.
  • Aligned to the Vision and Mission of TOPRA and in sympathy with the work done by members in the development and delivery of new therapeutic and diagnostic products.

Qualifications and experience

  • Educated to degree level with at least 5 years practical experience in a membership function.
  • Commitment to personal skills development.
  • Proven experience of achieving success working in a results-driven environment.
