Our client a leading, reputable and well-regarded Financial Services Membership Body is currently recruiting for a Senior Policy Advisor.
The Role of Senior Policy Advisor
To support and guide our members as the Government develops its approach to financial services following the Edinburgh Reforms and Financial Services and Markets Act 2023, amongst other policy developments.
Duties and responsibilities
draft responses to governmental and regulatory consultations and parliamentary inquiries;
support and advise colleagues across the business in developing and advocating policy positions on issues of strategic importance to the sector;
produce policy content for briefing materials, speeches, blogs, articles and reports;
co-ordinate areas of joint interest with colleagues across the trade association, including ensuring the smooth running o cross-organisation Policy Committee;
liaise with the media team to ensure that policy work is effectively communicated;
effectively manage relationships with members on key policy issues;
support other colleagues in representing and its members with political, governmental, regulatory and industry audiences, and other key stakeholders;
keep up to date with policy, political and research developments and provide detailed advice to senior colleagues regarding their implications for the trade association and its members.
Knowledge and experience required
Experience of policy development gained, for example, within a government department, regulatory authority and/or consulting environment.
Experience of delivering integrated, advocacy and influence building campaigns with political, regulatory, governmental and industry stakeholders.
Experience of carrying out focused research and information gathering to support policy or advocacy positions.
Experience in engaging and building relationships with a wide range of political, regulatory, governmental and industry stakeholders.
Good analytical skills and high attention to detail.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent knowledge of the UK’s policy and political environment and an understanding of how it impacts on the UK’s financial services sector.
Knowledge of financial services, economics and project management (desirable but not essential).
