Events Manager – IBMS

Salary £40-45k PA
Full-Time | 35 Hours Per Week | Hybrid after induction period (2 Days in Office, 3 Days Remote)

Are you passionate about event planning and public engagement? Do you enjoy making a positive impact on people’s lives?

The Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) is looking for a dynamic, organised, and enthusiastic Events Manager to lead our exciting events calendar and the unique Harvey’s Lab Tours initiative. This is more than just event planning—it’s about creating meaningful experiences and fostering connections in biomedical science.

About the Role

As the Events Manager, you’ll be at the forefront of organising and managing IBMS events, from careers fairs and roundtable discussions to high-profile ceremonies and our renowned Biomedical Science Day. You’ll be instrumental in supporting IBMS members and our region and branches networks to bring local networking and public engagement opportunities to life.

But that’s not all! You’ll also take the lead on Harvey’s Lab Tours, a special IBMS initiative in partnership with NHS Trusts, designed to help young patients with critical illnesses better understand their treatment by touring laboratories. Your work will have a direct impact, bringing comfort and clarity to patients and their families during challenging times.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Event Planning & Coordination: Organise a variety of IBMS events, from start to finish—careers fairs, roundtables, awards ceremonies, and more.
  • Manage Harvey’s Lab Tours: Be the central point of contact for coordinating lab tours, handling agreements with NHS Trusts, managing resources, and promoting the initiative.
  • Support Public Engagement: Help members organise impactful public engagement activities, including Biomedical Science Day and National Pathology Week.
  • Network & Collaborate: Work closely with IBMS region and branches networks to support local networking and engagement opportunities for our members.

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

At IBMS, we believe in a work-life balance. You’ll enjoy a hybrid working arrangement with only two days a week in our office following an initial induction period. Plus, we offer office perks like snacks and exceptional coffee! More than perks, though, you’ll join a collaborative team committed to supporting each other and advancing public understanding of biomedical science.

Who We’re Looking For

You are an experienced events professional with a knack for planning, coordination, and communication. You thrive in fast-paced environments, are comfortable liaising with a range of stakeholders, and are excited to make a real difference through your work. If you’re passionate about healthcare, enjoy public outreach, and love making people feel connected and supported, we want to hear from you!

Apply today to become part of IBMS and contribute to inspiring and impactful events that truly make a difference!
