RCS is the professional body for surgery. Our mission is to build the future of the surgical profession and improve the delivery of surgical care. We do this through education, training, examination, supporting surgical research and providing support and advice for surgeons at all stages of their careers.
About the role
The Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS) is changing the way it provides support to the profession across the UK. We have established two outreach hubs to support our regional activities in England. The first hub in London, based at the RCS, supports our activity in London and the South as well as leading the coordination of regional governance. The second hub, covering the North and Midlands, has recently been established alongside our new education centre at the University of Manchester.
The Outreach Support Officer will promote and represent the RCS in London and the South. This will involve the delivery of engagement activities with members, potential members and providing support for the RCS’s local governance including local boards. This role involves travel throughout the UK, overnight stays and out of hours working, including up to two days a month in the North hub.
As the Outreach Support Officer you will also support the Outreach Manager (South) to develop a Southern hub engagement plan which feeds into the RCS’s wider engagement strategy and our strategic priorities.
You should have a degree or equivalent professional qualification (candidates without a degree or equivalent qualification, but with a proven successful and sustained track record as outlined in experience below may also be considered); proven achievement in an support or engagement role, experience of project coordination, a track record in networking and relationship building.
